When paired with a compatible AMD chipset, the AMD Ryzen 5 7600 supports the PCI Express 5.0 standard, which is twice as fast as PCIe 4.0. All Ryzen 7000 processors utilize the AM5 platform and were designed for use with compatible AMD chipsets.
The silicon of the CPU cores is lithographed using the advanced 5nm FinFET manufacturing process with stacked transistors (also called 3D transistors) using Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) technology. The space gained on the processor die through the significantly reduced feature sizes allows for the integration of a total of 6 MB of Level 2 cache and a substantial 32 MB of Level 3 cache , which is particularly important for games.
The I/O chiplet responsible for data lines within the CPU package is manufactured using a 6-nanometer process. The CPU provides a total of 28 PCIe lanes, of which four are reserved for the connection to the motherboard chipset and eight for connecting NVMe SSDs. This leaves 16 lanes available for communication with graphics cards, while additional PCIe lanes are provided for further storage devices, expansion cards, and peripherals, depending on the motherboard chipset.
The AM5 platform also features modern external device connections such as Thunderbolt 4 (or USB4) , USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 with Type-C connectors and high data transfer rates of up to 40 Gbit/s. The CPU's integrated memory controller supports fast and energy-efficient DDR5 memory with or without ECC error correction at a native clock speed of 5,200 MHz, with significantly higher clock speeds possible through overclocking. For this purpose, AMD has introduced special EXPO performance profiles tailored to the Ryzen 7000 series.
High-end motherboards with AMD chipsets typically have additional voltage regulator modules (VRMs), allowing the Ryzen 7000 processor to communicate with the chipset to access the motherboard's unused power reserves and automatically increase its clock speeds depending on CPU temperatures.

The AMD Ryzen 5 7600 at a glance
The AMD Ryzen 5 7600 from the Raphael processor family features six CPU cores based on the "Zen 4" architecture . Following "Zen," "Zen+," "Zen 2," and "Zen 3," this is the fifth generation of the Zen microarchitecture. Each processor core has access to the entire L3 cache, which contributes significantly to the improved performance in games.
The AMD Ryzen 5 7600 6-core CPU with 5.1 GHz
The AMD Ryzen 5 7600 features six physical CPU cores , each capable of processing two threads simultaneously thanks to Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT). With the addition of six virtual cores, the number of processing cores effectively doubles to 12. This 6-core model operates at a high base clock speed of 3.8 GHz per core, which, thanks to Precision Boost 2, adapts precisely to the specific application scenario in real time, boosting up to 5.1 GHz within the limits of its 65-watt Thermal Design Power (TDP) .
The I/O chiplet responsible for data lines within the CPU package is manufactured using a 6-nanometer process. PCI-Express 5.0 with AMD X670(E) or B650(E) chipset
In combination with a high-end AMD chipset, the AMD Ryzen 5 7600 supports the PCI Express 5.0 standard. PCIe 5.0 is backward compatible and can be used with all expansion cards of previous generations. Each PCIe 5.0 lane offers twice the data transfer rate compared to PCIe 4.0, allowing an NVMe SSD connected via four PCIe 5.0 lanes to achieve a theoretical read/write speed of up to 15.6 GB/s.
Automatic overclocking via Precision Boost 2

Overclocking is no longer a concern for most people with AMD Zen 4, as the CPU takes care of it automatically: The AMD Ryzen 5 7600 is equipped with the Auto-OC feature Precision Boost 2 , which can increase the processor clock speed by up to 150 MHz beyond the factory-set maximum boost clock limit, provided an AMD motherboard is used and your CPU is adequately cooled.
Unlocked CPU: Manual overclocking thanks to an unlocked multiplier
Furthermore, all AMD Ryzen CPUs are "unlocked" and have a free multiplier , so overclockers can easily increase the high clock speeds directly by hand in the BIOS or UEFI or using software tools (e.g. AMD Ryzen Master), provided a suitable motherboard with an OC-capable chipset such as the AMD X670(E) or B650(E) and sufficient cooling is used.
AMD Radeon - Highly efficient graphics chips for the desktop
The unique feature of the "Raphael" series CPUs is the integrated Radeon graphics unit based on the RDNA2 architecture. This allows the CPUs, with their "Zen 4" architecture, and the graphics chips to merge into an efficient and powerful APU. The graphics core is integrated into the processor's I/O die, which also provides the PCIe lanes and is responsible for the connection to the memory controller. The graphics unit consists of two compute units with a total of 128 shaders. The GPU base clock is 2,200 MHz. In addition to AV1/VP9 decoding, the Radeon chip also supports H.264/H.265 encoding. DisplayPort 2.0 for 8K120 and HDMI 2.1 with 48 Gbit/s are also included.
